Would a Fringe Suit Me?
Seen a fringe you love, but wondering whether it would suit you and your hair?
A fringe can make your whole haircut feel different without taking much length off the rest.
It’s about finding a shape you’ll enjoy wearing, what’s possible with your hair and how to style it.
Our experienced stylists at Absolute Hair will help you explore the possibilities and talk through the details that make a fringe work for you.
Which kind of fringe do you like?
You might also hear a fringe called bangs, especially when you’re looking at curtain bangs or longer, sweeping styles. They’re different names for the same thing, with plenty of shapes to choose from.
You don’t have to choose between a full fringe and no fringe at all.
You might like the definition of a fuller fringe, the softness of curtain bangs that open around your face, or longer pieces that blend into your haircut.
Bring a couple of photographs and tell us what you like about them. We can look at the length, fullness and shape together, rather than asking you to arrive with the right haircut name.

What makes a fringe work for your hair?
It’s more than matching a fringe to your face shape. How your hair naturally falls makes a difference to how it will sit.
We’ll look at:
- Your hairline, parting and any areas that lift or separate at the front.
- Whether your hair is straight, wavy or curly, and how you like to wear it.
- How much hair there is to work with at the front.
- The length and shape of the rest of your haircut.
- Whether you like hair across your forehead or prefer it swept away from your eyes.
These details help us recommend a shape and explain what styling it is likely to involve.
Our big tip: allow a little time to style it
However a fringe is cut, it will most likely need to be styled.
Hair at the front can separate, kink or fall flat, so a little attention here can make a real difference, even if you do very little to the rest of your hair.
We’ll show you how to work with your chosen shape. If you wear your hair curly, we’ll talk about how you want the fringe to sit with your curls rather than assuming you’ll straighten it.
And you don’t always need to wash all your hair to freshen it up. Washing and restyling just your fringe can be a useful little shortcut.
What if you don’t love it and want to grow it out?
It’s not the end of the world. Growing out a fringe can be easier than you might think, with a little help shaping it along the way.
As it gets longer, we can soften the shape and blend it into the rest of your haircut. We’ll show you ways to style it through those in-between lengths, so you’re not simply waiting for it to grow.
