Could grey blending make my regrowth easier to live with?
“I still like my colour. I’d just like the regrowth to be less demanding.”
Perhaps that sounds familiar. You may not want a completely different colour, and you may not want to grow your grey out. You would simply like your colour to feel easier between appointments.
Grey blending could be part of that conversation. But before deciding how to approach it, we need to understand what you would like to see.

Does grey blending mean going grey?
Not necessarily.
Some people want to keep their colour but make the regrowth less noticeable. Others would like some of their natural grey to show through. And some are ready to gradually grow out their existing colour.
Those are different goals, even though people often use the same words to describe them.
You might like photographs labelled “grey blending” without wanting visible grey yourself. Tell us that. Understanding what you love, and what you don’t want, helps us recommend a plan that feels right for you.
Can I keep the colour I like?
That may be possible. We’ll talk about which parts of your colour you enjoy and what you would like to change about the regrowth.
We’ll also look at where your grey is coming through, your current colour and what has been used on your hair before.
For some clients, a softer approach means allowing a little natural grey to remain visible. If you prefer complete coverage, we’ll explain how that affects the options and the upkeep.
You don’t need to arrive knowing which technique to ask for. That is where our colourists’ experience comes in.
What if I want to grow my grey out?
Then the plan has a different purpose: helping you move from your existing colour towards your natural hair.
Changing the coloured lengths and allowing new hair to grow through are different parts of that process. Your starting colour, previous colour history, hair condition and the length you want to keep all matter.
We’ll talk about how you would like your hair to look along the way, as well as where you hope to finish.

How long could it take?
Some changes can begin with a small adjustment. A transition away from existing colour can involve several appointments over a much longer period.
In our salon experience, some transitions have taken six months or a year, and sometimes two years. Those are examples, not a timetable for your hair.
Our priority is caring for your hair and helping you enjoy how it looks throughout the process. We’ll explain what we recommend, why, and what each stage is working towards.
Will I need fewer colour appointments?
Possibly, but softer regrowth does not automatically mean less work at the beginning or no upkeep afterwards.
Tell us how often you would like to visit and the time and investment you feel comfortable with. We can discuss what is realistic for the look you want.
If you choose to grow your colour out, your future colour needs may change considerably. The aim is to help you reach a result you enjoy and feel comfortable maintaining.
Where should I begin?
Bring photographs you like, along with anything you definitely don’t want. You can simply say, “I like my colour, but I’d like the regrowth to feel easier.”
We offer a complimentary consultation for straightforward colour or service questions. When a change or grey transition needs a fuller assessment, our Detailed Colour Planning Consultation helps us explore the options and agree on a suitable plan.
